The Agricultural Genome Platform was formally established in January 2009. Based on the systematic and in depth knowledge of the genomes of important agricultural as well as other related organisms, the platform applies transformation technology to identify, clone and manipulate agricultural genes and foreign genes in a large scale. The platform develops a new breeding system and contributes for the food and ecology securities.

Main focuses of research: Develop genome maps for important Agricultural organisms (including crops, livestock, aquatic animals, pest organisms, etc); Investigate the national germplasm resource for the large scale cloning and identification of economic traits; Provide source genes for major transformation projects and establish national agricultural information centre; Supply breeding and analysis service for molecular breeding and agricultural bio-security.
