On December 30, 2004, BGI sent a team of five members to participate in tsunami relief in Thailand, and identify the identities of victims.
On July 1, 2005, on behalf of Chinese government, Chinese Premier Jiabao Wen and CAS President Yongxiang Lu handed over the DNA testing results of the tsunami victims, which was completed by BGI, to Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who afterwards had an interview with the tsunami relief team from BGI at Great Hall of the People. |
