BGI Seattle Participates in “Chinese Provinces and Washington State Trade and Investment Forum”
About 200 government and business leaders from the US and China convened at the July 20 forum in Bellevue, Washington, to discuss trade and investment cooperation. The forum was organized by Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Washington State Department of Commerce. BGI Senior Director Kristi Heim attended this forum and spoke about the development history of BGI Groups, BGI West Coast Innovation Centers and the Sequencing Seattle project that will soon be initiated in Seattle. “We believe in the promise of bringing the best of China and the US together to solve global problems,” she said. “BGI’s goal of using technology to benefit humanity is driving down the cost of cutting edge genomics so that more people around the world have access to it.” Forum participants showed great interest in BGI and the Sequencing Seattle project.
VIP attendees included Sun Chenghai, Director General of TDB of MOFCOM; Yang Yihang, Commercial Consul of China in San Francisco; Washington State Lieutenant Governor Cyrus Habib; Brian Bonlender, Director of the Washington State Department of Commerce; Andy Wilson, Washington State China Relations Council chairman; and other government and business leaders from China and Washington.
